Camping
Brockville offers camping in St. Lawrence Park Campground, and on certain City of Brockville Islands.
The 2024 camping season is open on May 17th, with bookings opening through our online campsite reservation system on April 1st (St. Lawrence Park, directly below) and May 1st on City of Brockville Islands.
St. Lawrence Park
For those travelers to Brockville who enjoy camping, one of the City’s most attractive waterfront park areas is St. Lawrence Park (525 King Street West) located on the western edge of the City on County Road 2.
The park includes camping facilities which operate from Victoria Day weekend to Labour Day offering fully serviced (15 amp electrical outlet and water) and non-serviced sites. Sewage hookup is not available, however, a dump station is on site for registered campers.
The park has a beautiful safe sandy beach ideal for children which is supervised during the summer period. Washrooms, change rooms, and a canteen are in operation from June through to September. A canoe and kayak launching area is available at the western edge of the park.
Day use at the park is free; however, charges do apply for overnight camping. Please see the camping rate below for current rates. St. Lawrence Park welcomes cyclists and has an “always room” policy for self-supported cyclists.

Rules and Regulations
- Campfires in fire pits and fire rings only. Campfires not permitted if a fire ban is in effect.
- Quiet hours are 11:00 pm to 7:00 am.
- All payments for campsites must be made in full at the time of registration. Please do not set up your campsite until you have registered.
- All sites will be allocated by the Park Attendant on duty. Site set up (trailer location, etc.) as directed by Park Attendant on duty.
- No more than one camping unit and one dining unit may be installed per campsite without the permission of the park attendant. Maximum 6 people or one family unit comprised of parents and their minor children.
- Minors (under 18 years old) are not permitted to rent a campsite.
- Only one vehicle allowed at each campsite.
- Only one picnic table per site.
- Alcohol is prohibited in City of Brockville Parks and Trails. Alcohol is permitted on registered campsite.
- Smoking is prohibited in City of Brockville Parks and Trails. Smoking permitted on registered campsite.
- Pets are welcome but must be on a leash at all times. Owners are responsible for their pet’s conduct. Please clean up after your pet. Do not leave pets unattended.
- No charge for guests. Guest vehicle parking is available in the parking lot. All guests must vacate park by 11:00 pm.
- Campers are responsible for the actions of their children and visitors.
- Campers are not permitted to cut down trees or damage park property.
- Vehicles or camping equipment left unattended for 24 hours after the paid period will be removed at the owner’s expense.
- The City of Brockville’s Operations Department will not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to personal property or persons, however caused.
- Camper’s checkout time is 12:00 noon.
- Speed limit in park is 8 kilometres per hour or 5 miles per hour.
- St. Lawrence Park Campground is open from mid May until Labour Day.
- Maximum camping stay is twenty-one (21) days per season.

Management reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone at any time or terminate any occupant’s stay for violations of any of the above regulations, without a refund, and reserves the right to alter any regulation at any time and its decision in any situation not covered here will be final.

Island Camping
Daily and seasonal camping is available on designated City of Brockville Islands. Campsites must be reserved in advance. Mooring on city docks cis also permitted and must be booked in advance. Certain campsites are designated as paddle in sites and have island access points suitable for kayaks and canoes.
Island Camping and Docking Rules
Noise:
- Quiet time is observed between 11:00 pm and dawn
- Only silent running generators (inverters) are permitted
- No fireworks permitted on park islands
Environment:
- Do not disturb or feed wildlife
- Walk only on groomed trails and be mindful of ticks
- Do not remove any natural or historic objects
- Hunting is permitted by registered hunters on designated islands during duck hunting season
- Do not collect downed trees or week
- Fires are permitted in fire boxes and bit pits only. Do not leave fires unattended
- All fires must be extinguished before leaving the site
- Please used plastic or canned containers only
Pets:
- Pets must be on a leash and under control at all times
- Pets must not disturb other visitors or island wildlife
- Owners must clean up after their pet and are responsible for any damage caused
Docking:
- Day Use and Overnight Season Passes must always be visible
- All transient docks must be booked in advance
- Reservations can be made up to one week ahead, and bookings must be cancelled if plans change
- Those with Seasonal Island Mooring Passes can only book one dock location per reservation. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the entire reservation
- Day Use Docking and Camping expires at 8:00 pm
- Overnight Docking and Camping expires at 12:00 noon
- Maximum Stay: 3 consecutive nights on one island, with no return for at least 3 consecutive days
- Tenders may be moored on the side of your vessel, where possible, but they can’t be used to reserve dock spaces
- Beaching or docking fees are applicable to tenders if beached or using dock space
- Boats may not be left unattended overnight (from dusk to dawn)
- Camping fee includes docking for the registered camper’s boat (one boat only)
Camping:
- All transient campsites must be booked in advance
- Camping is only available in designated areas and is not permitted on picnic islands
- Each camp site is allowed a maximum of two tents (including dining tents)
- A campsite accommodated a maximum of six people or single family unit (parents and their children)
- Maximum stay: 7 nights and overnight camping expires at 12:00 noon on the date of departure
- For paddle in sites, all canoes, kayaks, or paddleboards must be beached or placed at the campsite
The Islands are regularly patrolled by City of Brockville Bylaw Officers and failure to abide by the above rules may result in a minimum 7 day suspension.
Island Camping Regulations
The Islands are especially sensitive to damage because they are rocky, small in area and have a more severe climate than the mainland. You can contribute to the protection of the islands by complying with the following regulations:
- Your Island campsite accommodates up to six people or a single family unit consisting of parents and their children.
- A maximum of two tents is permitted (i.e. sleeping and dining).
- Children are each camper’s responsibility.
- Mooring for one boat is included in the campsite fee. Your boat must be approved and registered with the City as some docks may be inappropriate for larger boats.
- Island mooring fees are applicable for all other vessels.
- Visitors are welcome, subject to payment in full of mooring fees, which can be booked and paid online
- Visitors must vacate the campsite by 10:00 pm. Quiet time is from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am.
- Registered campers are responsible for the actions of their guests.
- Visitors are required to remove all their possessions from the islands upon their departure.
- Campfires are permitted in designated areas only. However, should a fire ban occur, no campfires are permitted.
- Bring your own firewood.
- Do not collect downed trees, limbs, brush, etc.
- Do not burn downed material. This decaying matter plays an important role in the healthy development of the island forest, providing cover and food for insects, small animals and birds. Please leave them where they fall.
- Campers are not permitted to damage park property.
- Pets are welcome but must be on a leash at all times. Owners are completely responsible for their pet’s conduct. Please clean up after your pet.
- Alcohol is only permitted on each campsite. For the safety of your family and others, please use only plastic or metal containers as broken glass is a problem due to the rockiness of the islands.
- If a seasonal camper is unhappy with their site during the course of the season and no longer wishes to use it, the campsite must be returned to the City. A prorated refund of 50% will be remitted to the camper for any cancellation received prior to July 1.
- The City of Brockville Islands are classified as public lands and, as such, individuals utilizing these lands are subject to all applicable municipal, provincial and federal legislation. In addition, all City of Brockville bylaws are enforced under the Provincial Offences Act and any violations will result in the immediate issuance of fines and, in some cases, the termination of campsite privileges without refund.
- Please ensure your campsite is vacated and left clean by ensuring that all waste is removed. Do not leave any unwanted items such as barbecues, garbage, etc. for the City to dispose of: this is your responsibility.
Please follow “Leave no trace” principles and pack it in, pack it out processes.
Seasonal Island Camping
A limited number of seasonal campsites are available each year and are awarded through a lottery system. By the directive of City Council, first preference is given to City of Brockville residents and second preference to residents of our three surrounding townships (Augusta, Elizabethtown-Kitley, and Front of Yonge). Documentation may be required to confirm residency. Applications from other areas can also be submitted, however those names will only be drawn if there are any campsites remaining after the first and second groups.

The 2023 draw will take place on Tuesday, May 9th at 5:00 pm. Eligible applicants will receive a virtual meeting link by email.

2023 Seasonal Island Camping Lottery Overview
Residents of Brockville, as well as Augusta, Elizabethtown-Kitley, and Front of Young Townships are eligible to apply. Preference is given to City of Brockville residents and second preference is to residents of surrounding municipalities. Documentation may be required to confirm residency.
It is the City’s intention to allocate the Seasonal Campsites in a fair and equitable manner.
- One application per household and per address (a household address and an individual or family member from that address cannot be on more than one Seasonal Island Camping Application).
- The name drawn is the Primary Camper and, if they own a boat, it is also registered to their selected campsite. The Primary Camper must be the owner of the listed boat and their original boat registration must be provided when they complete and submit their Seasonal Island Camping Agreement (City staff will make and retain a copy of the boat registration).
- Should the Primary Camper wish to share the campsite with another person or household, they are considered a Secondary Camper.
- The Secondary Camper must complete and submit a Seasonal Island Camping Agreement.
- A Secondary Camper can be added at any point in the season by contacting the Parks and Events Coordinator for a Seasonal Island Camping Agreement.
- If the Secondary Camper owns a boat, their original boat registration must be provided when they complete and submit their Seasonal Island Camping Agreement.
- The Secondary Camper is required to purchase a Seasonal Island Mooring pass from the Parks and Events Coordinator prior to the start of the season, even if the Primary Camper does not have a boat or if the Secondary Camper’s vessel is a canoe or kayak (please note that canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards are to be beached).
- Each campsite has an assigned dock.
- Each Primary and Secondary Camper’s boat can only be registered to one campsite.
- Visitors are welcome at the campsite only if the Primary or Secondary Camper will be present for the duration of the visit.
- Visitors may moor at the designated campsite dock but all visiting boats must reserve and pay for day and/or overnight mooring (by purchasing a day mooring fee, overnight mooring fee, or purchase a Seasonal Island Mooring Pass).
- Visitors can moor at the designated campsite’s dock for a maximum of 7 nights but can’t return to the same Island for a minimum of 3 days after they depart (7 days on, 3 days off).
- An Applicant is not allowed to be a Proxy for another Applicant. Additionally, a Proxy may only represent an Applicant at the Lottery Draw if the Applicant is unable to be present and each Proxy can only represent 1 Applicant
- The City of Brockville will not be held liable for the loss or theft of any belongings from any seasonal campsite. Take note that no security or grounds patrol is provided by the City.
