Mayor Matt Wren presents his 2026 Municipal Budget today, Friday January 2, 2026. This marks the beginning of Council’s review process under Ontario’s Strong Mayor framework.
While the 2026 budget is being brought forward under the strong mayor framework, the preparation process has remained consistent with past practice. City staff began their work in late summer, guided by the Mayor’s direction to maintain current City services at the levels approved by Council for 2025.
The proposed budget is subject to Council review, potential amendments, and final approval. Over the coming weeks, City Council will review the proposed budget, debate service levels and priorities, and may propose amendments as part of the decision-making process. The anticipated budget timeline can be viewed within the Procedural Guidelines for the 2026 Budget presentation.
Council meeting agendas, minutes, and livestreams are available on the City’s website at: https://brockville.civicweb.net
