Canteen Attendant

Applications are invited from qualified and interested candidates for the above-noted C.U.P.E. Local 115 (Outside) position in our Operations Department.

The Canteen Attendant is responsible for customer service duties at City recreation facilities. As a primary function, the canteen attendant runs the canteens at City facilities with duties including but not limited to customer service, preparation of canteen foods and beverage, completing sales transactions, cleaning and other basic maintenance duties as assigned.

Specific duties include but are not limited to the following, responsible for the daily duties of the canteen including, food preparation, customer service, cash handling, inventory control, supply restocking and facility upkeep. Additional responsibilities may include general facility upkeep as directed by Arena staff, may be required to perform a variety of cleaning, janitorial and set up activities, assist with on-ice operations (moving and securing nets)

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the public and providing professional customer service
  • Experience working in a kitchen setting and/or arena would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating positive and effective relationships with customers with a broad range of diverse needs
  • Experience in showing effective decision-making and judgement skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both a team setting and independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to exercise effective decision making and sound judgment
  • Food Handling Certification would be an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification would be an asset
