IT Analyst

Salary: $67,517-$80,600

Reporting to the Supervisor of IT Services, the IT Analyst provides support to local and remote clients with respect to desktop/laptop equipment, network equipment and systems, applications, telephony and telecommunications requirements.

Essential (Minimum) Qualifications:

  • College diploma in the field of computer science or technology or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) of relevant experience in a similar IT service role.
  • Strong support knowledge of PC hardware, Microsoft operating systems (Windows 10 and newer), and Network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with enterprise level firewall administration (Cisco, Fortinet, etc.)
  • Experience with SQL 2010-2020 servers and Windows Server 2012-2022 deployment, management and decommissioning.
  • Experience with ubiquity Wi-Fi and all related hardware
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration
  • Experience with telephony system administration and experience with multi-function copiers/printers.
  • Advanced knowledge of Enterprise level Financial Systems Management
  • Knowledge and experience with VPN Deployment and management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of vSphere environment including deploying, managing, and decommissioning virtual machines.
  • Knowledge and experience with emergency systems CAD and RMS systems
  • Knowledge of office security systems, including door controllers, and camera systems.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed as position requires initiative and independent thinking.
  • Keen attention to detail for a role where quality assurance is important.
  • Valid G Class Driver’s License.

Asset (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Industry certificates i.e A+, Microsoft certifications, HDI, ITIL
  • Previous experience in Municipal office environment

IT Analyst Job Description:

Position: IT Analyst

Department: IT Services

Reports to: Supervisor of IT Services

Purpose and Scope:

Reporting to the Supervisor of IT Services, the IT Analyst provides support to local and remote clients with respect to desktop/laptop equipment, network equipment and systems, applications, telephony and telecommunications requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and maintenance of the City’s information technology resources.
  • Provide expert administration support and maintenance of all Microsoft Office products at the administrator level including SharePoint, Azure, Microsoft 365. Review Microsoft product updates and develop plans to implement enhancements.
  • Provide Help Desk technical support to users either via phone, email, service request or in person as required.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for all types of technical inquires, service requests, and issues involving computers, accessories, network, smartphones/tablets, AV systems, enterprise applications/systems.
  • Ensure the stable operation and efficient performance of the City’s networks.
  • Monitor system capacity to determine its effect on performance and recommend enhancements to meet new or changing network demands.
  • Configure and troubleshoot servers, including e-mail, print and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Install and configure all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, etc.
  • Ensure network and IP connectivity of all workstations, application servers, and back-end office infrastructure.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and associated training related to IT Services.
  • Protect own health and safety and the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety.
  • Follow all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Education, Specialized Training, and Skills:

  • Well developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to listen intently and inquire into situations.
  • Proven analytical and decision-making skills to examine specialized and broad problems and develop solutions and/or to address confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed as position requires initiative and independent thinking to respond to variables.
  • Keen attention to detail for a role where quality assurance is important.
  • Integrity and discretion necessary to safeguard confidential information.
  • Valid G Class Driver’s License.

Work Experience:

Supervision:

  • The position has no direct supervisory responsibility; however, it is an advisory role in the training and guidance of staff on IT processes.

Work Environment:

  • Work in an office environment with occasional travel outside the office.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Position requires some physical work, candidates must be able to perform the essential duties of the position, i.e. lifting 50lbs and identifying different coloured cables
  • Must deal with frequent interruptions.
  • Occasional requirement to work past regular work hours.
