The City of Brockville is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead the planning and delivery of the Ontario 55+ Summer Games as our Games Coordinator. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-profile, province wide multi-sport event that celebrates active living and community engagement.

Please note: This position is funded through a time-limited provincial grant. Employment is therefore term-based and contingent on grant funding.

About the Role

The Ontario 55+ Summer Games Coordinator provides overall leadership, planning, coordination, and delivery of the Games on behalf of the City of Brockville. Reporting to the Tourism Advisor, this role works closely with municipal departments, the Games Organizing Committee, the Ontario Senior Games Association (OSGA), the Ministry of Sport, sponsors, and community stakeholders to ensure a successful event.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary municipal liaison between The Ministry of Sport and OSGA.
  • Support and coordinate the Games Organizing Committee and sub-committees.
  • Ensure alignment with Hosting Agreement requirements.
  • Oversee all operational areas, including:
    • Sports competitions
    • Volunteers
    • Accommodations and food services
    • Transportation and logistics
    • Special events and ceremonies
    • Accessibility, safety, and risk management
  • Coordinate with municipal services and external partners.
  • Manage the Games operating budget.
  • Ensure compliance with funding and reporting requirements.
  • Support sponsorships and revenue generation initiatives.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and support of volunteers and committee members.
  • Coordinate with contract staff where applicable.
  • Act as the operational lead and representative for The Ministry of Sport
  • Build relationships with community partners, sport organizations, and government stakeholders.
  • Support marketing and community engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in recreation, event management, sport administration, tourism, business, or a related field.
  • Significant experience leading complex projects or large-scale events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership, governance, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and public sector funding.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Professionalism, discretion and integrity.

Working Conditions

  • Flexible hours required, including evenings and weekends.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Class “G” driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check
