The Planning Department is accepting applications electronically and conducting pre-consultations. To drop off applications please contact staff to arrange for a time to drop them off at City Hall. Where possible pre-consultations will be done virtually. Meetings directly with staff will be by appointment only. Visitors to the Planning Department will be asked screening questions and will be asked to practice social distancing during meetings.

Please be advised that the Public Meeting scheduled for April 7, 2020 at 6:00 pm, Council Chambers, City Hall, Brockville was cancelled due to COVID-19 safety concerns and will be rescheduled to a future date.
The City of Brockville is adapting some services in relation to COVID-19. The Province has allowed construction projects to procedd under Stage 1 of the Framework to Reopen the Province and are now able to issue building permits for all construction projects.

Construction and/or demolition without a Building Permit is not allowed under any circumstance under The Building Code Act, 1992. If construction or demolition proceeds without a Building Permit the City will take appropriate enforcement action.

Inspections of essential construction will be undertaken in accordance with the City’s current protocol in order to maintain the health and safety of our Building Inspectors, contractors, and the general public. Specifically:
- Inspectors will not engage in interpersonal contact at sites.
- Prior to attending sites, Building Inspectors will be asking screening questions to determine if any persons on the site or that have been accessing the site, are exhibiting symptoms associated with the COVID-19 virus, or have been exposed to a probable case of the virus, or are in self-isolation.
- Building Inspectors reserve the right to refuse to enter a site or inspect if they believe the conditions are unsafe for themselves, the contractors or the public.
The City will continue to maintain safety by responding to all emergency or unsafe conditions.

Property Standards complaints can be submitted electronically or by phone at 613-342-8772 Ext. 4425. By-law Enforcement Officers will continue to respond to property standards complaints outside of dwelling units and in unoccupied dwelling units. By-law Enforcement Officers will not be attending property standards complaints within occupied dwellings.

Animal complaints can be submitted electronically or by phone at 613-342-8772 Ext. 4473. By-law Enforcement Officers will continue to respond to animal complaints outside of dwelling units. By-law Enforcement Officers will not be attending animal complaints within an occupied dwelling.
