BusinessEconomic Development NewsComplimentary Wi-Fi Extended in Downtown Brockville
Posted Jun-18-2018
The City of Brockville is pleased to announce that the availability of Wi-Fi in the downtown area has been extended by over 1 kilometre along King Street. In addition to our existing Wi-Fi enabled locations at the waterfront and Memorial Centre, you can now connect along King Street between Perth Street and Park Street, in the Railway Tunnel, Hardy Park, and Rotary Park. Designed to enhance your downtown experience, Wi-Fi is a tool to make it easier to navigate our beautiful city and find more things to do while you are out exploring. Visitors to downtown can now more easily find out about hours of operation of shops and restaurants, look up the next cruise time, and upload photos of their visits in real time all from their device of their own choosing without worrying about cell phone data charges. As a border city, Brockville gets a large number of travelers from the United States who do not purchase expensive international data packages, and many locals and visitors do not have data available on their devices. Wi-Fi makes it easier to connect, learn, and share making Brockville even more accessible and welcoming to all who visit.
Our GIS department has created a visual “heat map” that indicates where the signal is strongest and speeds are fastest in relation to well-known attractions and landmarks. Check out the map online at http://arcg.is/9Gjmf and come downtown to try it out for yourself.
The next time someone stops you to ask “Where can I get free Wi-Fi?” send them downtown to connect and explore. Choose “Brockville Free WiFi” from the available connections on your device while you are downtown. For more information, please contact: Find Brockville Economic Development on Facebook
