St. Lawrence Rideau Immigration Partnership Team

We are fortuante to work closely with a number of partners who ensure that Brockville is a great place to live and work. Part of what makes Brockville appealing to new residents is our welcoming community as well as the supports that we have in place. The St. Lawrence-Rideau Immigration Partnership plays a big part in connecting our various services and agencies together and make our community more welcoming and attractive to new residents.

What is the St. Lawrence – Rideau Immigration Partnership?

The Immigration Partnership is a coalition of community organizations, immigrant representatives, and government agencies committed to building local capacity to attract, settle, and integrate immigrants throughout Leeds Grenville. A staff Secretariat comprised of Melissa Francis, Program Manager, and Lauren Smith, Project Coordinator, oversee the program, and work with a Council of close partners to implement a variety of initiatives.

  1. One of 70 Immigration Partnerships across Canada
  2. Established in 2010
  3. Supports organizations and individuals in all 10 Leeds and Grenville municipalities, in addition to Brockville, Prescott, and Gananoque
  4. Funded by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada
  5. Hosts immigrant representatives from at least 6 different countries on the Immigration Partnership Council

Top 3 Projects for 2018

  1. ‘We Are Neighbours’

‘We Are Neighbours’ is an awareness raising campaign that is fueled by the sharing of stories by people who live, work, and study in Leeds and Grenville. In its second year, the campaign aims to recognize and celebrate local diversity. From immigrants and long-time residents, to students, retirees, and business owners, everyone is invited to contribute a story that reflects their Leeds and Grenville experiences. To learn more or to become involved, check out the campaign website:  https://weareneighbours.wixsite.com/weareneighbours

  1. 4th Annual Immigrant Entrepreneur Award

This annual award is a special way to shine a light on the economic and social contribution that immigrant entrepreneurs are making in Leeds and Grenville. If you know of an immigrant entrepreneur deserving of this award, please nominate them! They must have been born outside of Canada, live in Leeds and Grenville, and be an owner/operator of an active business in Leeds and Grenville. It’s easy to nominate:

  1. 4th Annual Diversity Day

Diversity Day is a free community event hosted by the Immigration Partnership that provides opportunity for learning, sharing, and networking about local immigration and diversity issues. Local immigrant guest speakers are always the most popular part of the event, followed by learning or training opportunities that help people learn more about supporting and welcoming individuals from other countries and backgrounds. The next Diversity Day will be held in the Fall of 2018. If you would like to receive an invitation to the event, please email melissaf@eecentre.com
