Kick-Start: Downtown Brockville Entrepreneur Contest

Are you thinking about opening or expanding your business? Are you considering Downtown Brockville?

The Downtown Kick-Start contest is for new or existing businesses to open, expand, or move into beautiful downtown Brockville!  

Up to 8 lucky contestants will be selected by a panel of judges to proceed through a series of business workshops that will prepare them to open a business in downtown Brockville. Participants will compete at a final pitch event and the person with the best business plan and pitch will win our grand prize! Another 2 lucky winners will walk away with our second and third place prize!

Grand Prize:

  • One (1) year Brockville Chamber membership
  • $1000 worth of IT consulting from Brock IT
  • Brochure racking with the Brockville tourism office for 1 year
  • 6 months of advertising on the Brockville tourism's digital billboard
  • One (1) double sized ad in the 2021 Brockville tourism map
  • The opportunity to co-host a morning show on Yes-FM to promote the business
  • 1/4 page ad in Snap'd 1000 Islands
  • 1/8 page ad in the Recorder and Times

2nd and 3rd Place Prize:

  • One (1) year Brockville Chamber membership
  • 1/4 page ad in Snap'd
  • 1/8 page ad in the Recorder and Times
  • Brochure racking with the Brockville tourism office for 1 year
  • 6 months of advertising on the Brockville tourism's digital billboard
  • 25 thirty second radio ads on 96.7 YesFM

Applicants must submit their entry by November 15th at 4pm in order to have their business idea considered for the Kick-Start contest. A judging panel will select up to 8 businesses to advance to the next phase of the competition and to receive additional mentoring to prepare for the final pitch to the panel. All applicants will be invited to participate in a series of free business workshops presented by Downtown Brockville Business Improvement Area (DBIA) and the City of Brockville Economic Development Department. All contestants will be required to attend four mandatory workshops as well as on practice pitch session as part of their contest involvement. The dates are outlined in Appendix A found in the Rules & Regulations
