The River of Lights Returns Saturday November 26
Posted Nov-23-2022

Excitement is building for the return of the River of Lights presented by Canarm to Blockhouse Island.

This year’s show will feature nearly an hour of music synced to thousands of lights to produce a full show of brightly dancing trees and lighting effects. This event runs nightly from November 26th to January 2nd and is free for all to enjoy.

Each night the full show will run on a loop from 6pm-10pm, with an additional hour before and after the show where soft lights will light up the trees without any musical accompaniment. This year you can expect a longer show with newly added music, a few new lighting effects, and a new on-site photo opportunity where you can frame yourself with the show in the background.

Set your car radio to 88.1 when you arrive to enjoy the show from the comfort of your vehicle. Don’t forget to pick up a hot drink and some snacks on your way to help support our local businesses.

The River of Lights has partnered with the Brockville & District Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Brockville to bring back the popular “Shop Where Your Heart Is” program that rewards shoppers for making purchases locally during the holiday season with chances to win amazing weekly prizes. Earn an extra ballot in the prize draw when you purchase a hot beverage to-go from one of our 9 participating restaurants and cafés before heading to the River of Lights. Find our list of participating restaurants at

The Aquatarium Holiday Express Train, a new addition in 2021, will be back again on select nights to offer a fun and unique way to experience the show.

The River of Lights opens on Saturday November 26th, taking place on the same night as the Santa Claus Parade. Road closures will affect all of King Street until after the parade passes at around 7:30pm. Enjoy the parade before making your way down to the River of Lights as access to Blockhouse Island by vehicle will not be possible until after the parade is over.

Funding for the River of Lights is provided by the Government of Ontario.
