Reopening of City Hall & Gord Watts Municipal Centre

City of Brockville Council and staff continue to comply with the guidelines provided by our governments and the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit.

City staff have been working on plans for a safe reopening.
Following the recommendations of Ontario Public Health officials,
beginning Tuesday September 8th, both City Hall and
Gord Watts Municipal Centre will be open to the public
without requiring an appointment.

"This is the latest step in the City of Brockville’s reopening plan and represents a significant move towards returning operations to normal. Our citizens can once again access City resources at their convenience as they would have done prior to the onset of the global pandemic. We ask that our citizens continue to work with us and take the necessary precautions to keep our community safe.” – Mayor Baker

Individual(s) will be required to wear a face covering according to the Health Unit’s Instruction and the City of Brockville’s Face Covering-Mask Policy (attached). Visitors should complete a COVID-19 self-assessment before entering.  The Ontario government provides an online self-assessment tool at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/  No one exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 or who has been outside of the country in the past 14 days will be permitted to enter.

Staff will have in place proper signage and spacing markers to guide citizens and staff. Waiting areas will be set up to assist with traffic flow. Plexiglass barriers have been appropriately installed on customer service counters.

Only one person will be allowed in the Customer Service Office and the Planning and Building (Economic and Development Services) at a time, unless accompanied by someone in their immediate bubble. Those wishing to meet with a member of staff may continue to pre-book their appointments in order to facilitate their visit as staff from the respective department will be able to meet the individual at the door and take them to a dedicated meeting space, reducing the number of people waiting in line at the door. Please consult the City’s website for staff contact information at https://brockville.com/departments

This is for City Hall and Gord Watts Municipal Centre only.   For any other City facility status please visit the City’s website for more information at  https://brockville.com/closures-covid19

The City of Brockville continues to review the situation on a day to day basis while we take all necessary precautions towards the spread of COVID-19. Staff will monitor the reopening of these facilities and adjust where necessary.

Your patience and compliance are still required as we continue to work together to mitigate any potential community spread of the COVID-19 virus. The City would also like to remind and encourage everyone to follow the recommendations of our public health agency:

  • Practice social distancing of at least 2 metres
  • Wear a cloth face covering/mask in public spaces
  • Refrain from going out if not feeling well
  • Don’t shake hands with another person
  • Frequently clean and disinfect touched objects and surfaces
  • Properly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Engage in proper cough or sneeze etiquette, including but not limited to covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze and disposing of used tissues immediately
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth

The Province recommends you get tested if you feel you are experiencing any symptoms of feel you have been exposed. The testing is free and available for walk-ins.
