River of Lights 2022
The Countdown is on for the River of Lights
Site preparation is well underway on Blockhouse Island for the return of the River of Lights, presented by Canarm.
This year’s show will feature nearly an hour of music, with trees on site wrapped in lights and synced up to the musical tracks to produce a full show of brightly dancing trees and lighting features. This event runs nightly from November 26th to January 2nd and is free for all to enjoy.
Each night the full show will run on a loop from 6pm-10pm, with an additional hour before and after the show where soft lights will light up the trees without any musical accompaniment.
Set your car radio when you arrive to enjoy the show from the comfort of your vehicle. Don’t forget to pick up a hot drink and some snacks on your way to help support our local businesses.
What’s new in 2022?
In addition to new music, you can expect a few new lighting effects, a longer playlist, and a new on-site photo feature – find it near the harbour washrooms and frame yourself in a photo with the show in the background. Share your photos using #riveroflightsbrockville so we can see your great pics!
We are also partnering with the Brockville & District Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Brockville to bring back the popular “Shop Where Your Heart Is” program that rewards you for shopping locally with chances to earn amazing prizes. Earn an extra ballot in the weekly prize draw when you purchase a hot beverage to-go from one of our participating restaurants and cafes before heading to the River of Lights. Find our list of participating restaurants at www.brockville.com/riveroflights
The Aquatarium Holiday Express Train will be back again on select nights to offer a fun way to experience the show.
Blockhouse Island will be closed to vehicles each night from November 17th to January 9th from 11pm-7am to facilitate the show (including set up and tear down).
The Brockville Rotary Santa Claus Parade – Saturday November 26
Please note that the opening night of the River of Lights takes place on the same night as the Santa Claus Parade. Road closures will effect all of King Street until after the parade passes at around 7:30pm. We recommend enjoying the parade and then making your way down to the River of Lights as access to Blockhouse Island by vehicle will not be possible until the parade is over.
