1000 Islands & Seaway Cruises New Lease

1000 Islands & Seaway Cruises has been a cornerstone of tourism in Brockville for over 30 years, attracting more than 25,000 visitors annually. In the post-pandemic era, there has been a notable shift in tourist preferences, with more individuals seeking private cruising options to avoid large crowds. Combined with an increasing demand for unique, personalized travel experiences, this trend presents an exciting opportunity for service expansion.

To meet increasing demands for unique, personalized travel experiences, the company proposes the addition of new tiki-style boats, each with a capacity for 12 passengers which will be fully licensed.

The tiki boats will be operated from the two vacant westerly finger docks at Block House Island, located just east of the Harbour Services Building.

This expansion presents a valuable and impactful opportunity for the City of Brockville to enhance affordable boating experiences on the St. Lawrence River and draw visitors to our City.

2025 Interim Tax Levy and Establishment of Due Dates

Every year, the city sets its two property tax installment dates early in the year. The first installment, due on February 28, 2025, is an estimate based on the previous year’s tax levy. This is because the tax rates for the current year are not finalized until the City’s budget is approved. The second installment will be due on August 29, 2025.
There are several convenient payment methods available to pay property taxes. Options you can consider are pre-authorized payments that are automatically deducted from your bank account each month, online payments through your financial institution and submitting post dated cheques.

Cash in Lieu of Parking 36-46 King Street W.

Council approved a Cash in Lieu of Parking agreement with Caber Development Inc. with respect to the proposed development of 36-46 King Street W., also known as the former Woolworth’s building. When developments are unable to achieve the required number of parking spaces based on the number of units, this fee is charged to offset costs for the provision of parking elsewhere.

In late 2024, Council passed a By-law to Establish a Cash in Lieu of Parking rate of $6,500 per space, however the staff recommendation to charge $5,000 was approved. This was recommended was put forward as discussions with developer of this particular property were underway prior to Council’s consideration of a set rate.
