The restoration work was recently completed by Alexander Gabov Conservation of Sculptures, Monuments and Objects, as contracted by the City of Brockville.
Nestled amid the verdant boulevard of Court House Avenue in downtown Brockville, Ontario, the Fulford Fountain is a charming and historically rich urban landmark. It was presented to the City on June 11, 1917, in memory of former mayor John H. Fulford.
It is constructed of glazed terra-cotta in the Italian Renaissance style and was designed by architect and artist Herbert Raine (A.R.C.A.). Placed amid the boulevard’s floral plantings, it contributes significantly to the visual appeal of the avenue. The fountain features sculpted fish and turtles, adding whimsy and detail to its design.
A one-of-a-kind piece of art that is treasured.
