Host your own “Hot Frosty” viewing party at home

    Posted: Wednesday November 13, 2024

Last Spring, Brockville closed down Courthouse Avenue for filming of a Christmas movie, then under the working name “Love at Frost Sight”. Some of the film’s actors were spotted frequenting downtown Brockville businesses and a few lucky fans were able to score a selfie or two with one of the actors.

The final cut, now under the official name “Hot Frosty” is now available as part of the Netflix seasonal film line up headed straight to home viewing.

If you were as excited as we were to see Courthouse Avenue transformed into a wintery wonderland, complete with snow sculptures and white lights radiating from the Fulford Fountain, now is your chance to see the end result!

As a home-release film, you’ll be able to watch the film right away from the comfort of your living room, and all you need is an active Netflix account. To make the event more fun, we think it’s better to watch together! Host a Hot Frosty home viewing party with your family and friends and enjoy seeing Brockville captured on film.

Ideas for your home watch party

We have put together some ideas and activities to make your watch party memorable:

    • Grab a pre-movie dinner or drinks at The Keystorm Pub. Take a good look around as this well-known Brockville location was transformed for filming and you can play a fun version of “spot the difference” as you watch the movie.
    • As you watch from home, make a game of who can find the Brockville location first. Shout out the location when you see a noticeably “Brockville” location.
    • Recognize anyone on set? Keep your eyes peeled for some local faces who were cast as extras in the film.
    • Play our “Hot Frosty” bingo. Download a set of 8 “Hot Frosty” bingo cards we made just for this film and mark off items as you watch. The first to complete their full card and shout “Frosty” wins!
      • We will have printed sets available outside of City Hall on Saturday November 16 during “Flannel and Frost” at the Downtown Brockville “Miracle on King Street” event. Stop by for free hot chocolate, activities, and take home a set of bingo cards. We will be launching this year’s “Shop Where Your Heart Is” program with our partners that day, so be sure to stop by to find more ways to win this holiday season 😊
    • Knit your own replica scarf! A long red scarf appears to be the magical element that brings the snowman to life and is featured throughout the film. Pick up some red yarn from Sassy Yarns in Downtown Brockville and grab a set knitting needles from Brockville’s own Kollage Square and Hot Frosty Replica Scarf Knitting Pattern. (Our pattern, which makes an extra long and cozy scarf to match the one in the video, uses just under 500 metres of bulky-weight yarn and US size 9 knitting needles). Keep on reading below to find out how you could win one for yourself!

    Hot Frosty Fever:

    Enter our contest:

Post a photo of your home watch party! We have teamed up with Brockville Tourism to put together a Brockville prize pack for one lucky viewer. Tag @brockville_tourism and @brockvilleon on social media with a picture or video of your home watch party and you could win a prize pack of Brockville goodies, a hand knit replica scarf from the movie, and a set of Kollage Square knitting needles in case you want to make anther one for a friend.

Update: The contest is now closed. Congratulations to our winners, @thecovillefamily for taking home our prize pack and your very own “Hot Frosty” replica scarf!

Even though the contest has ended, we would still love to see how you celebrated the film. Keep tagging us in your photos 🙂

Want to share your viewing experience with family or friends who are further away? Try one of these web extensions to host an online Netflix watch party (all participants will need their own Netflix account, but you’ll be able to watch at the same time).

Why aren’t we hosting a community viewing?

As part of Netflix’s business model, this film (and most of the content that they produce) is created exclusively for their platform in order to build and keep their user base.

A theatrical release of this title is not part of Netflix’s business strategy and we are not permitted to offer a community presentation.

Instead, let’s make it a community event: reach out to your friends and neighbours and gather at the homes of people with active Netflix accounts and watch together! Use some of our ideas above, and don’t forget to tag us in your home watch parties!
