401 Highway Ramp Closures – MTO Rehabilitation work at Stewart Boulevard

    Posted: Tuesday June 24, 2025

Bellai Alliance Civil (BAC) has been contracted by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to carry out rehabilitation work on the Hwy 401/Stewart Blvd and Hwy 401/North Augusta Road structures. The project also includes paving work on highway ramps and adjacent city streets. To complete this work, BAC will implement traffic control measures on both Highway 401 and the affected city streets.

Traffic Impacts on Hwy 401 and City Streets

During the construction period, lane closures will occur on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Hwy 401 and city streets, with at least one lane remaining open to traffic at all times. Temporary ramp closures will be in place as needed to perform the work. Detour signage will be installed on the highway and the city streets.

Stewart Boulevard 401 onramps will be closed

Initially, Stewart Boulevard 401 onramps were to be opened daily. This has since been modified by the contractor and MTO to be closed around the clock. The closure is scheduled to begin July 3rd and end after approximately 30 days.

    • North/South to Eastbound ON ramp (N/S-E ramp)
    • South to Westbound ON ramp (S-W ramp) These closures are necessary to complete structural rehabilitation of the Hwy 401/Stewart Blvd underpass. Detour signage has been installed along Stewart Blvd, Parkedale Avenue, and North Augusta Road to guide motorists
