Student Museum Assistant

Temporary Full Time at the Brockville Museum

The Brockville Museum is seeking a Museum Assistant – Summer Student who will support seasonal community programming and collection digitization initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leading hands-on programming at the museum to engage visitors.
• Host artifact-based pop-up displays at local businesses in the community to increase the visibility of the museum and share the history of Brockville.
• Catalogue and digitize archival documents to the museum’s online collection database.
• This position will work 35 hours per week, regular work involves evening and weekend work.
• Applicants must meet the Young Canada Works eligibility criteria.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary student enrolled in museum management, social studies, arts, education, or related field.
• Possess a genuine interest in history and museums.
• Experience and comfort presenting to large groups as well as one-on-one.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with volunteers would be considered an asset.
• Working knowledge of conversational French would be considered an asset.
