Museum Visitor Services Attendant

As the first point of contact for the public the Visitor Services Attendant provides exceptional and professional customer service to visitors to the Brockville Museum assisting with admissions, orientation, tourist information and general inquiries, processing sales and program registration in person and over the phone, and reconciling cash, debit and credit sales at the beginning and end of shifts. Shifts include weekdays, weekends, and occasional evening for assistance with special events and/or facility rentals. Shifts are between 3 to 6 hours in length, Monday – Saturday, up to five shifts/week, with occasional evening shifts.

Duties:

  • Greeting visitors.
  • Providing orientation of the museum and of Brockville.
  • Operating the telephone switchboard, answering and/or redirecting inquiries.
  • Operating the point-of-sale systems, debit/credit machines and other technology as necessary.
  • Assisting with daily administrative activities, attendance tracking, visitor statistics, etc.
  • Assist with events and room rentals as required, including with the safe set up, clean up and take down of equipment and supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Secondary school diploma.
  • Previous customer service work experience.
  • Previous experience cash handling and balancing cash registers.
  • Previous experience working in a museum environment would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Brockville’s history and cultural attractions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Products, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and the visitor experience.
  • Flexibility and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
