Memorial Centre Roof Renovation

Project Overview

The City of Brockville is moving forward with a major rehabilitation of the Memorial Centre, beginning with the full replacement of the facility’s roof. This work is a critical first step in the long-term vision for the site as part of the City’s future Multi-Use Recreation Facility (MURF).

The existing roof has reached the end of its service life and has experienced ongoing leaks, creating operational challenges and safety concerns for staff and users. Proactively replacing the roof now will protect the integrity of the building, reduce the risk of further damage, and help avoid more significant disruptions in the future.

This project is supported by $978,000 in funding received through the Ministry of Sport, allowing the City to proceed with a complete renewal of the roof system.

Alongside roof replacement, this project also supports broader interior updates within the facility, ensuring the Memorial Centre remains functional and safe as plans for future expansion and redevelopment progress.

This upgrade represents an important investment in maintaining the City’s existing recreation infrastructure while preparing for the next phase of improvements to the site.

Project Objective

The primary objective of this project is to replace the aging and deteriorated roof at the Memorial Centre to ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and protected from further damage.

Key objectives include:

• Eliminating active leaks and addressing structural vulnerabilities
• Extending the lifespan of the facility
• Ensuring a safe environment for staff, user groups, and visitors
• Minimizing the risk of unexpected closures or costly emergency repairs
• Supporting future redevelopment and expansion plans as part of the Multi-Use Recreation Facility (MURF) initiative

This work is a necessary foundational step to enable future upgrades and additions to the arena and surrounding recreation amenities.
