Upcoming Film Production on Court House Avenue

    Posted: Thursday April 18, 2024

Court House Avenue in Brockville is about to be transformed into a wintery wonderland for an upcoming film production.

The production crews will begin setting up for their shoot starting on Saturday morning, with the area in use from April 20th to May 11th.

The area will be off limits to the public during production, which includes blocking off the streets surrounding Court House Avenue, and implementing detour routes for traffic approaching the area from the north.

Street closures will be in place starting Friday April 19th at 9:00 am, and will include:

    • Court House Avenue East and West (both sides) will be closed from Court House Square to King Street, including Court House Square between Court Terrace to Pine Street
    • Detour will be in place from William Street at Pearl Street West to Court Terrace: please follow Detour Route signage around this area, you will be directed down George Street to Buell Street, avoiding the road closure at Court Terrace blocking access to Court House Avenue
    • Road closed at the intersection of Wall Street and Pine Street: please drive north on Wall Street to James Street and beyond

Additionally, parking will not be permitted on George Street from Court House Terrace to Buell Street, or on Pine Street from Wall Street to Garden Street.

The City Transit transfer stop at Court House Avenue will be moved to George Street (between Court House Terrace and Buell Street) approximately 100 metres west of its current location, during the production timeframe.

Please use caution when approaching these areas, and respect all road closures, posted detour signage, no parking signs, and other production notices.

Businesses within the area are still open and accessible by foot. Deliveries and staff vehicles of those businesses will be granted access.

Regular waste collection for residents and businesses within the production area will continue as usual, with waste collectors picking up refuse and recycling on foot.

Screen based production is a year round industry that supports our local hotel and hospitality sectors, particularly in the tourism off season and shoulder seasons when vacancy rates are higher. The creative industry is a growing industry that has proven itself during the pandemic to be a stable economic driver for communities that have the capacity to support these screen productions. Attracting these productions leads to talent attraction, growth of the local creative industry, and supports local businesses and industry.

To facilitate this production, the Clock Tower Bell Chime from City Hall will be disconnected today to prevent untimely sounds from interrupting filming, and the crosswalk chirping at the intersection of King Street and Broad Street will be turned off during the production.

We thank everyone for their understanding and hope that you will join us in giving a warm welcome to the production team!
