Royal Canadian Air Force Centennial Committee presents the CC130J Hercules

    Posted: Friday April 05, 2024

Following the Opening Ceremonies at our upcoming community eclipse viewing event on Monday, in partnership with the Royal Canadian Air Force Centennial Committee and the Royal Canadian Air Force Special Events Team, we are thrilled to announce that there will be a scheduled flypast of the CC130J Hercules. The Royal Canadian Air Force Celebrated 100 years of service on April 1, 2024, and we wanted to offer the residents of Brockville the opportunity to celebrate this significant milestone with us.

Keep your eyes to the skies over Brockville at around 12:45 pm to enjoy a fly past of this aircraft.

Special thanks to CFB Trenton and Major Ken Mick for the coordination.

Get your cameras ready for the flypast. It will be something to capture.

Please note: this is a large aircraft and it will be flying low, it will be fairly loud.

The fly past will be conducted by the Search and Rescue standby CC130J Hercules aircraft based out of 8 Wing Trenton.

In 2023, in addition to its airlift duties, the CC130J took on a new role in Search  and Rescue, working alongside the CC130H Hercules and CH146 Griffon in Search and Rescue region Trenton, which stretches from eastern Quebec to the Alberta-B.C. border, and to the northern tip of Canada, encompassing nearly 10 million square kilometres.
