Downtown Beautification Project
Project Overview
The Downtown Beautification Project will develop a long-term vision and implementation plan to enhance the appearance, functionality, safety, and accessibility of Brockville’s downtown core. The project will assess existing streetscape features, infrastructure, lighting, landscaping, and public spaces to identify opportunities for improvement while preserving the downtown’s unique character.
The plan will focus first on ensuring downtown infrastructure is safe, accessible, and sustainable, while also creating a more attractive and welcoming environment for residents, businesses, and visitors. Recommendations will help guide future capital investments, grant applications, and beautification initiatives throughout the downtown.
Approved through the 2026 Capital Budget and funded through the municipal tax levy, the project has a budget of $50,000. The project is expected to conclude with a final beautification plan by the end of 2026.
The development of the plan will also consider opportunities identified through Brockville’s participation in the First Impressions Community Exchange Program in 2025. Through the program, Brockville and the Town of Cobourg conducted unannounced visits to each other’s communities, providing an outside perspective on community strengths and areas for improvement. The Downtown Beautification Plan will help the City explore opportunities identified through that process, including enhancements to streetscapes, public spaces, landscaping, wayfinding, community identity, and the overall visitor experience, while establishing a cohesive vision to guide future downtown improvements.
