Specialized (Para) Transit Booking System
Project Overview
The City of Brockville has implemented a new Specialized (Para) Transit Booking System to enhance accessibility, improve service delivery, and provide riders with greater flexibility when booking and managing trips.
The new platform, powered by Spare Labs, modernizes Brockville Transit’s Para Transit service by introducing self-service booking tools, real-time ride tracking, and multiple booking options while maintaining traditional phone booking support for riders who prefer to speak with staff. The platform was selected following a review of available solutions and was identified as the best fit to support Brockville’s current and future Para Transit service needs.

- Self-service trip booking through the BEST – Brockville Transit mobile app and online portal
- Real-time vehicle tracking
- Same-day trip booking capabilities
- Multiple booking options, including app, phone, text, and online access
- Personalized rider profiles with mobility information
- Improved scheduling tools to optimize service delivery
- Centralized trip and rider information
- 24-hour booking access through digital channels
- Flexible booking options, including advance trip scheduling up to two weeks in advance
- Same-day trip booking capabilities through the BEST – Brockville Transit mobile app
The new platform is already being used by Para Transit riders and has received positive feedback since launch.

Project Objective
The primary objective of this project is to modernize Brockville Transit’s Para Transit service by implementing a centralized booking and scheduling platform that streamlines all major aspects of Para Transit operations. The system provides riders with greater flexibility and independence through self-service booking tools, multiple booking options, real-time vehicle tracking, and improved access to trip information, while supporting more efficient service delivery and operational management.
Project Budget
The Specialized (Para) Transit Booking System project was approved by Council as part of the 2026 Capital Budget with an approved budget of $67,720, funded through the tax levy and transit-related grants. The initial implementation cost, including set-up and first-year licensing, was $63,617.60, which was completed within the approved project budget.
