    New Play Structures

    Posted: Monday April 22, 2024

Did you know that there are a current total of 26 parks with play structures in the City of Brockville? Make that 27! A new play structure is also to be installed at the Stirling Meadows subdivision.

Over the years, these play structures deteriorate and become outdated or deemed non accessible. In 2022 staff began the procurement and capital planning process for seven play structures that were in most need of replacement. Play Ground Planners of Ottawa is the regional contractor/distributor of Little Tykes commercial grade play structures. Staff have reviewed the specifications provided by Play Ground Planners and concluded that the proposal meets or exceeds the specifications set out by staff in the scope of the project so the task was awarded accordingly.

The public has begun to see crews removing these seven play structures and will continue to see the removal and replacement of these at two per month over the next few months.

Each of the new play structures will be equipped with a woven wood material packed for a new accessible base for all to enjoy, as we move all of the community play structures away from the sand bases.

The removal of the John Knox play structure is well under way. George St, Kensington, and Duke will soon be after. John Knox will be the first to be installed with an approximate start date of May 1.

    The seven Parks include:

    • Duke St. Park
    • George St. Park (shown in the photo)
    • John Knox Park
    • Kensington Park
    • Kyle Court Park
    • Matthew Fraiser Park
    • Sophia St. Park

    A $370,000 Parks improvement.
